Complementary Activities for Mothers
In collaboration with Ms. Miriam Del Rosario, the foundation has also set up support activities for the mothers. They receive theoretical and practical educational sessions focusing on confidence building and improving parental, culinary and gardening skills.
To supplement the income of the families, Ms. Del Rosario created an enormous garden around her home where the mothers benefit from the fruits of their labor and newly acquired skills in gardening and cooking.
A few days a week, these mothers are taught how to cook new recipes with the vegetables and fruit they grow and harvest from the garden.
Ms. Del Rosario teaches the mothers the importance of implementing basic daily routines into their family lives, such as ensuring appropriate and consistent bedtime routines for their children for optimal rest thus resulting in optimal focus in the classroom.
These sessions have inevitably provided mothers with a sense of self worth and value resulting in confidence and better parenting skills. It is our goal at HALMS that our students and their mothers learn to become self-directed and responsible for continued perssonal growth.
